"MACHETE" on the Fast Track

Bloody-Disgusting.com has reported that the Weinstein Company has serious interests in Robert Rodriguez’s Mexploitation actioneer ‘Machete’ to start shooting later this year.

The feature is set to star Danny Trejo as the titular “Machete” and was originally introduced as part of a fake trailer collection attatched to the Grindhouse double-feature – and is still attatched to the Grindhouse: Planet Terror – Extended Edition that was released on home video. The trailer focused on the story of ‘Machete’ Cortez; a knife-toting ex-Federale’s revenge on his former boss played by Jeff Fahey. No word yet on if Cheech Marin will reprise(?) his role as Padre Benicio Del Toro (*nod*wink*) or if the feature wll be a direct to video affair or a feature film ..

I’d still watch the hell out of this mother fucker either way!

Also on a Trivial Trivia Note: This isn’t the first time Robert Rodriguez and Danny Trejo brought Isidoro ‘Machete’ Cortez to the moving pictures – he was first introduced in the movie Spy Kids as Carmen and Juni’s uncle – the muscle and the mind behind the Machete (brand) Spy-Tech gears incorporated to his neice and nephew to save their parents.
